What We Do

We are a Secondary PSAP (Public Service Answering Point) providing 911 emergency call processing and dispatching services to emergency service agencies within Harris County, Texas. The call volume within the Communications Center grows each year, with last years call volume totaling approximately 41,000 calls.

This call volume is managed by experienced EMD Dispatchers and EMD Calltakers. Our staff of 18
employees have a wide range of experience and years of service. With each employee having different
backgrounds working with Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement organizations, this has given us the ability to
centralize the various emergency services within one facility.

By facilitating these services into one location, we are able to expedite the protocol process for Automatic and
Mutual aid, thereby contributing a major part to the overall reduction of response times. Calls processed and dispatched are documented and tracked within the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system. Utilizing such technologies within the  wireless and wi-fi arena, Field personnel can access and view incident locations,
incident data, and  prior call information.

Having the capabilities to transmit, receive and patch an array of UHF, VHF and 800 MHz radio frequencies,
we are able to communicate with numerous agencies and assist in the overall interoperability solution. In an
continued effort to improve interoperability operations abroad, additional equipment has been purchased to communicate with neighboring county agencies.

The success and progress of centralizing communications can be directly related to a vision, hard work and
most importantly, a staff of personnel whom desire to serve our agencies and the communities in which they
serve.
